I am Hayley, the face of Rowton Grange Secure Dog Field which is situated in the heart of my family’s farm 5 miles west of Shrewsbury.

 

The idea of the field came about when there was a rise in reports of livestock worrying, both locally and nationally. Here in Shropshire we are lucky enough to have access to some beautiful countryside and with Wales being right next door we are spoilt for choice.

 

Unfortunately, there are times throughout the year certain walks are not possible and with dog ownership constantly increasing, those once peaceful walking spots have become busy, stressful and not always suitable for every dog.

My late dogs were fortunate enough to have all the freedom they desired and I wanted to create a little haven so that dogs could experience the same. And so, Rowton Grange Secure Dog Field was born: an oasis where ALL dogs can enjoy the countryside without the worry of who or what they may bump into.

 

When we say ALL dogs, we truly mean it. We have welcomed everything from a chihuahua puppy to a Great Dane and everything in between. We have made small changes so that XL bullies can continue to enjoy the field (see our Field Rules section).

Here, the only distractions are then gentle goings on of the farm, the occasional unbothered livestock and the peaceful hum of rural life. Very quickly I learnt that the field isn’t just for the dogs, it's for their humans too. A place to slow down, breathe and simply enjoy time with your four-legged best friend.

Our field and car park are fully secure with 6ft fencing that is also dug into the ground. The car park is gated for extra safety and your dog can step straight out of the car and into their adventure.

We’re open 7 days a week all year round, weather dependent, including bank holidays and Christmas Day.
